Finally! Carrier IQ is being brought into the public spot light as after a recently posted video on how the software exposes private/secure data was made available on youtube.
I personally feel this service is used as a back door by some carriers but have never had proof. I’ve had my phone modem ROM disabled while running a pre-release version on the Sprint network. Once I removed Carrier IQ from the system (using a custom ROM) my phone modem ROM no longer was disabled every week. Call me paranoid, but with the permissions the Carrier IQ rootkit is given, anything is possible.
U.S. Senator Franken is getting in the mix to demand what and why this rootkit software is embedded in over 140 million phones and counting.
