Today, North Korea issued a statement through the state’s official news agency and also broadcast via radio, that more missile launches and nuclear tests are to be conducted. More directly, the country’s Defense Agency has said that a series of exercises will target the United States in what they are calling an “all-out confrontation battle”. North Korea conducted a missile launch on December 12 for what their government insists the was a non-military mission to place a satellite into orbit. The launch was widely viewed as a violation of previous U.N. sanctions that prohibit the country from utilizing ballistic missile technology, and has imposed additional sanctions in response.
